Television to Travel

With two new productions due to be released this year, their backdrops make an excellent travel choice to explore.

HBO’s Harry Potter

With the trailer already been released, this new Harry Potter series is set to come to our screens this Christmas.

The Glasshouse is positioned at the bottom of Calton Hill in the centre of Edinburgh, the city that inspired J.K.Rowling’s fiction.

The old Town skyline, kirkyards and closes all became part of her wizard world, which can be seen a short walk from this traditional hotel.

Its location is in the heart of what makes an easy point for exploring the city’s Potter landmarks on foot.

Following a pleasurable walk around these streets, guests can relax in the hotel’s whisky snug.

Nightly rates at The Glasshouse start from £200.

Sense and Sensibility

Georgia Oakley’s new version of this classic Jane Austen masterpiece has hit cinemas after its release on 25th September 2026.

Starring Daisy Edgar-Jones, Fiona Shaw, Caitríona Balfe and George MacKay this will be a spectacular drama to enjoy.

The Gainsborough Bath Spa is a Grade II listed 18th century building set in the middle of the city that Austen called home for many years.

The motivation of her novels, it is a fine place to capture the scenic architecture that has become the home of her written aspirations.

This autumn, the hotel is also partnering with Strictly Jane Austen Tours to host a six-day literary event from 26th to 31st October, combining expert-led talks, guided tours and workshops.

Nightly rates at The Gainsborough Bath Spa start from £233. Jane Austen Celebration Week prices from £2,275 per person.
