Winner of this year “Ginen” Nordic Design Award Louise Amstrup steps out for the fourth season during Spring Summer 2010 London Fashion Week. Showcasing her new collection via a presentation format offers the opportunity to create a space which encapsulates the Louise Amstrup brand philosophy and gives viewers the opportunity to see the garments up close.

Amstrup has always used an eclectic selection of ideas and inspirations, pulling them together to create a harmonic and unique story and this season is no different. Taking reference from the beauty of a double exposed image, or a reflection in a broken mirror, the collection has both a hard and sharp edge contrasted with an essence of vulnerability and a slightly distorted sense of surrealism.

“I had been watching Lady from Shanghai and the scene in the fairground when she shoots all the mirrors and is left standing distressed in a distorted yet beautiful shattered surrounding. This has influenced both the style and cut of the collection, as well as the prints. It will also be the template for my presentation space. I have worked with set designer Alex Cunningham to create a interesting space, which will hopefully give you a unique view into my world”

Continuing to create striking pieces Amstrup has combined an imaginative use of material with innovative technical detailing. In almost every garment the tailoring is built around incredibly feminine silhouttes which include very structured pieces. Body con dresses and soft draping dresses are created from a spectrum of fabrics ranging from silk organza and georgette to more sporty neoprene’s, nylons and sweat shirting. The cool colour pallet flows from almost transparent hues through to white, light grays and ice blue.

Danish born Amstrup graduated from the Akademie Modedesign in 2003 and trained with Alexander McQueen before setting up her eponymous label in 2006. Her signature style juxtaposes feminine and powerful elements together with delicate silks, soft chiffons, cottons, and wools.
